Finally! Our first full-length studio album is underway. We’ve just returned from the great Northeast where we spent a week in Boston’s Chillhouse Studios recording an album, the likes of which you have never heard and will never hear again. As many of you know, this project has been over a year in the making. What we began recording at Circuit Rider Studios became demos as the project gained scope. Most of these songs have been built up and stripped down multiple times and are just now getting just where we like them. Much of that is due in part to the leadership, vision, and general craftiness of our newly signed-on producer, Will Holland, who works from and partially owns Chillhouse. Will immediately locked in to what we were trying to do with the album. He had a great sense of the unconventional spirit of Analog Moon. We mixed tried-and-true techniques with modern ideas. We used analog tape delay and tracked some songs to an old Studer tape machine. We plugged and unplugged amps, changed rooms, and even shook the Earth tracking a bass at 4AM. And now we’re very excited to finish up and present you with the fruits of our labor. We will keep you updated as progress continues.

Analog Moon will be releasing their December 23, 2006 performance as a single disc live show. The performance was one set opening for a Captain Easy reunion show at Headliners in Columbia, SC, and featured Brian Sansbury as a guest keyboardist. It was recorded by Zack Thomas and mixed at Circuit Rider Studios by Todd Britton. The live album, containing seven tracks including some previously unreleased material and a cover, will only be available at Analog Moon performances but has already “leaked” on the internet at various websites. The formal release date is slated for March 31 at Headliners, where Analog Moon will be opening for Green Lemon. Advance copies may be available by request as early as next week.

On December 23, we will have the honor of playing with one of Columbia’s greatest ever now-defunct bands, Captain Easy! This local favorite is returning after an almost two-year split for one special performance. Get in! The fun doesn’t end there. Analog Moon will take the stage before Captain Easy , and sitting in on keys for one night only will be none other than Columbia’s own Brian Sansbury. Have Mercy on all of you. Pack a lunch. If you call now (and even if you don’t), we’ll throw in another defunct Columbia band reunion. That’s right. Analog Moon drummer, Chris Jones, and his old band, Death To van Gogh’s Ear, will play for those of you lucky and smart enough to get there early, so you do that. Merry Christmas.

We would like to appologize for having canceled our performance at the Halloween Hootenanny at the last minute. We had a death in the family, and needed to be in Aiken for the weekend. At present, we have no other gigs booked for the near future, but we are working very hard on our new album. There will be more details to follow.

Saturday! Saturday! and…next…Saturday! This weekend Analog Moon will be playing at The 20th Annual Group Therapy Chili Cook-Off. It’s the best time of year! We’ll be starting at 1:30PM. Bring Tums. After the chili party, we’ll head over to MacDougals to play at The Bud Light Maxim Exposure party at around 10:30PM.
Next weekend, we’ll head up to Pauline, SC, for Casey Hammet’s Halloween Hootenanny. It’s a two-night festival on 250 acres of beautiful land with lots of great regional music. And from what we hear, Casey knows how to throw a party. We’ll be playing saturday night along with Petrillo Relents, The Fossil Record, Tom Hall & the Plow Boys, Bentz Kirby, Dave Britt, and Keith & Carly Acoustic. All this in a killer campsite for $10 per person. Children get in free. And don’t forget – It’s a Halloween party. Wear a costume on saturday night. All of the info is on this handy flier:
